Zack Cupkovic of R2 Companies is going to speak to us about the many changes that are happening on Goose Island. Zack led R2’s Goose Island 2025 masterplan effort. Once a Planned Manufacturing District (PMD), now without the manufacturing, it has evolved into an Innovation District. On the heels of this change is Goose Island’s third iteration. We’ll learn about the many changes on the River, on Goose Island and in the entire new North Branch River District.
Being one of the largest land owners in the area, R2 Companies is spearheading many of the projects on the River including: The Salt District (restoration and repurposing of the Morton Salt sheds as an entertainment venue and restaurant area, originally designed by GAP&W), The 1001 N. Branch building (for years the iconic Pickens Kane building on Goose Island, now an adaptive reuse for office) and The Wild Mile (R2’s river playground and botanical area to both beautify and promote a healthy habitat along the river). Join us to hear about these projects that R2 has underway to transform Goose Island and its riverfront.
