Please join us for a tour of the newly renovated Theater On The Lake at Fullerton and the Lake.  This beautiful historic building is now a restaurant, theater and event space.  It’s currently a partnership of Lakefront Hospitality Group and the Chicago Park District.

The Prairie style brick and steel structure was designed in 1913 by Dwight Perkins who also designed Cafe Brauer, the LP Zoo Lion House and the North Pond Cafe.  His firm at the time was Perkins, Fellows & Hamilton.  Constructed in 1920, it was originally the Chicago Daily News Fresh Air Fund Sanitarium for children with TB and other diseases.  Free health service, milk and lunches were provided to more than 30,000 children each summer until 1939 when it closed.  In 1953, it was converted by the Chicago Park District to the Theater on the Lake and it’s still going strong!

I’ll send out transportation options in a reminder for attendees.  Buses going through the Park with a 3 block walk east at Fullerton are the easiest way to get to the Theater.  There’s a taxi/Uber drop off in the circle drive at Fullerton, but there’s no parking.
