Hotel Boom docents are ready to walk the walk and talk the talk of their popular adaptive reuse-themed tour that has an exciting new blueprint. It has been ‘re-engineered’ to begin at our soon-to-be new home at Illinois Center and includes the glamorous Langham Hotel.
Our guests will still have an up close and personal opportunity to experience some of Chicago’s most unique hotels that have been transformed from historically significant landmarked Chicago skyscrapers that meet preservation criteria. Instead of six stops, our two-hour tour will feature five adaptive reuse examples with more time for photo ops, questions, and guest interactions as suggested by insights from the Project Fresh initiative.
The addition of the Langham Hotel adds mid-century modern to the tour. Located in the AMA Plaza building (formerly the IBM Building), the Langham was named Chicago’s #2 hotel in US News and World Reports 2018 ranking. The building is considered a stellar example of the work of the Master of Modern Architecture, Mies van der Rohe, and is his final achievement.
The Hotel Boom tour continues to demonstrate Chicago’s love of architecture and its enduring spirit, as well as exemplifying why design matters.
