A short message for a short month!
I begin my message by encouraging you again to read the latest docent perspective on the move, posted on The Bridge as often as needed. (CLICK HERE for the February 9 edition.) I hope you all noticed that in this extraordinary year, Docent Council voted to allocate Service Hours to all docents who attend training for the revamped Core Tours. This is a nice bonus for us all.
You may have noticed that the eastern wall in the Docent/Volunteer Library (the one where we hang bathroom keys) has been denuded. This is in anticipation of our own Wall Project, overseen by Leslie Clark Lewis and Sandy Guettler. Not giving away any surprises here — just keep watching.
Docent Council met on February 6th to get updates on training and other tour-related items of business. Because the news about Jen’s departure was so new we spent a lot of time reminiscing about our interactions with this magical person. Seldom does one person, no matter the tenure, manage to touch every individual in an organization, but Jen has done that.
Instead of overdoing by shoveling out — whether that’s your driveway, your car or your dog from the snow — here are some productive activities to concentrate on for the new few weeks:
• Sign up for April Tours
• Enter your nominations for Service Awards to be handed out at DAN
• Act on the suggestions Dick Clark provided to bid Jen an appropriate farewell, and then come to party on March 1st.
• Volunteer for Engineering Fest February 24/25
• Think about signing up for training on a new tour — solicitations on The Bridge
• Go on one of the Pedway “orientation” tours and see if you can get to our new home without ever going out into the elements
Obviously, there is plenty to keep us occupied!
