VEV Chair’s Message – April 2017

Greetings fellow volunteers,

ellen-oberhart-resizedAs warmer weather and longer days beckon us outdoors, Chicagoans as well as tourists are eager to get out and explore the city.

We are happy to announce that VEVs will now be partnering with the 360 Experience at the top of the Hancock building. From 6-9 pm on Tuesday evenings, VEVs will be standing near the Lego model on the 94th floor on Tuesday evenings. Tourists can gather there to meet the CAF volunteer who will then:

  • point out interesting buildings;
  • talk about what sights are visible from the four sides; and
  • answer any questions about the histories of both the Hancock and the city.

The first volunteers who have signed up to participate met with docent Judith Kaufman and a representative from the Hancock. They prepared the volunteers well with a private tour, a wealth of information, and many wonderful facts that will help VEV’s as they chat with visitors.

Everyone is excited to be involved with the partnership so they can talk about the Hancock, CAF, and the city we all love. If anyone is interested in joining the Hancock volunteers, contact Caroline Duda.

Looking forward to seeing you in the shop, the atrium, the Design Studio, and now 360 Chicago!

Ellen Oberhart
Chairman of the Volunteer Steering Committee
