HOW DID THEY BUILD THAT?

That’s a question we often get as Docents and Volunteers at the CAC.  But did you know that the Smithsonian Channel runs a regular series called “How Did They Build That?”?  This series visits architectural marvels around the world to explore the design, engineering and construction that makes the featured structure an architectural standout.  There are a lot of reasons for us to watch this series, but especially so on October 6, 2024 at 8 pm CT when Chicago’s very own Aqua Tower will be featured!

This episode, titled “Subways & Sightlines,” will take a closer look at the sculptural beauty of the Aqua Tower and offer viewers an inside peak at how the building helps redefine urban living.  Even better, this episode will feature a brief interview with our very own Pris Mims (Class of 2000) who will share her perspective on living in this unique building.  The folks at Magellan recommended the interview with Pris given her active involvement in the Aqua Tower’s condo association and her work creating the CAC’s Aqua, St. Regis and Lake Shore East tour.

Watch this episode of “How Did They Build That?” on Paramount+, Hulu or Pluto TV or visit Smithsonianchannel.com for information about other apps, streaming or cable providers who feature their channel.
