To continue our celebration of the Year of the Docent, the DAN Committee is premiering this week the first in a series of videos.
.
These short programs spotlight people who were “present at the creation” during pivotal moments in the history of the Chicago Architecture Foundation, now CAC. The first in the series focuses on the very first docents – Bob Irving from the first docent class of 1971, Barbara Siebel and Diane Lanigan, both class of 1972. Others in the series will highlight the:
- Creation of the Architecture River Cruise
- Graceland, the architects’ cemetery, and the docents who developed its first tours
- Trailblazers who have managed the docent program, Caroline Duda and her predecessors
- Tech-savvy docents who looked into the future and initiated our digital efforts
- 50 years of Chicago’s changing skyline told by longtime docent Geoffrey Baer
.
A new video in the Year of the Docent series will be made available each month from May through October. Meet the people who created today’s CAC.
Wonderful to see and here thoughts of our early docents…whose tours inspired me to become a docent as well.
