In case you missed them the first time around, here are the first two programs from our 50th anniversary video series celebrating the “Year of the Docent.” These short programs spotlight people who were “present at the creation” during pivotal moments in the history of the Chicago Architecture Foundation, now CAC.
In First Docents, Ross Wirth interviews Bob Irving, class of 1971, and Diane Lanigan and Jan Dressel, both from the class of 1972, about the earliest days of the organization. They recall the enthusiasm and passion of the pioneer docents for this fledgling organization and share stores of tour development and interesting guests. Don’t miss the anecdote about a famous actor who was a fan of FLW. LINK HERE to view
In Launching the River Cruise, Lance Friedmann, co-director of the River Cruise, hosts Bob Irving, the creator of the cruise, along with two longtime River Docents, Karen Genelly, class of 1978, and Mary Ludgin, class of 1989. What stimulated the first cruise? How has the cruise route changed over time? What are memorable and sometimes hilarious events on the cruise? CLICK HERE to find the answers.
