I have seen 35 of 50 and would like to see about 10 of the remaining 15. Cannot wait to start travelling again.

  2. Michael

    I counted 29 for myself.

Janet — which 5 are you not interested in seeing?

    1. Janet

It isn’t that I do not want to see the building but the location is troublesome for me. I should have been more careful in my comment.
Like it is too hot and humid for me to go to Angkor What, although I would have liked to have seen it when I was not too far away. I really do not plan to go to Dubai or any of those “artificial places” but sure, I would like to see the Burj Khalifa if you could move it elsewhere. Parts of India and Brazil are too hot for me too.I have been to both countries but only certain portions. On the other hand, I still hope to get to Greece in the early spring or late fall.

So Chicago has no iconic buildings – or at least none in the top 50 – per the Architectural Digest?

    1. Ross

Yea, I find this list lacking… Though I’m halfway thru it 25 of 50 for me…

  4. Barbara

I’ve seen 30 of the buildings — gotta go to Asia more!

  5. Gregory

    27 for me!

  6. Rich

I’ve seen 28. Why no Chicago buildings??

  7. Joan

35 on this list are familiar to me. Why several in New York but none in Chicago?

    Joan Stewart

  8. Bill

I’ve seen 22, a couple walking or driving by. I agree with Joan And Robert wondering how they couldn’t include any of our icons.

  9. Jill

    I’ve seen 33!

  10. Barry

30 for me. If I ever get to Istanbul, I look forward knocking off No.s 1 and 32 in the same glance.

  11. Eileen

I have seen 27 and actually had a wonderful, elegant, luxurious stay in the Frontenac….way before I was even remotely interested in buildings so I guess there was much that I missed……gotta go back

  12. Karen

    29 for me.
    Karen

  13. Charles

    26. But some strange choices on the list….

  14. Ellen

Richard and I have seen 37 — I doubt we’ll ever get to India or South America again to see others, but it is fun to make lists and think about traveling. Hopefully soon. thanks Bobbi and Caroline for creating this.

  15. Virginia

I’ve seen 38. Brazil is now on my list. And, yes, where is Chicago/Illinois?
For starters, how about The Farnsworth House, Crown Hall.
    Monadnock and/or Reliance?

  16. Richard

I’m not surprised that docents would object to Chicago’s absence in the list
(Farnsworth House isn’t actually in Chicago).

  17. Lois

I have visited 38/50. There are many others That should’ve made the list: Two temples in India and two in Kyoto.

  18. Emily

I’ve been to 24 of these places, but agree with those of you who are really surprised not to see any of Chicago’s awesome buildings on the list. I hope we’ll be able to get back to traveling one day soon!

  19. Nancy

I have seen 37. Like many others I can’t wait to start traveling again.
