Welcome the 2024 Docent Council and Committee Chairs!
As you know, docents are a self-governing body. It is one of the unique elements of CAC. The Docent Handbook guides how we operate. Committee work is a great way for docents and volunteers to get involved, have your voice heard, and really get to know your colleagues. All you have to do is raise your hand!
When a docent or volunteer has a suggestion or question they cannot resolve, they should bring them to the relevant committee meeting or committee chair. If you aren’t sure which committee, bring your comment to any member of Docent Council or the Docent Council President who will help you find the right contact.
With more than 400 docents and volunteers plus over 40 staff running the CAC, including many activities where docents aren’t direct involved, there are a lot of moving parts. We never want you to feel unheard or not know where to take their questions, ideas, or feedback. This Committee Point Person chart should help you answer “who do I see for what?”

Thank you for this wonderfully-informative post, Caroline. As a new last year, I found it cumbersome to get information about whom to contact about committees, and this makes it very clear.
In reference to the terrific article from earlier this month, I am also remembering the tour on August 8, 2004. When a bus toilet tank was dumped on the Kinzie St bridge and landed on a River Tour. Hmmm
