CAC Docents at 50 – It’s Not Too Late to Tell Your Stories!

Next year – 2021 – will mark the 50th anniversary of the first Chicago Architecture Foundation/Center docent class. We plan to celebrate this anniversary through a series of virtual programs next year, and, of course, a virtual Docent Appreciation Night on April 10th.

We are also reaching out to all retired and current docents to share special CAF/CAC memories for a commemorative book which will be made available to all. We are asking you to look back on your experiences as a docent and share some moments with us by writing a short description (75 words or less). Pick any memory to write about, but here are a few ideas that may inspire you:

  • What being a docent means to you.
  • Experiences during your training as a docent.
  • Fun or strange things that have happened on your tours.
  • Your favorite tour to give.
  • Friendships you have made through CAC.

We also need your photo for our book. Please send a picture of yourself in front of your favorite building. It doesn’t have to be downtown. Or if you happen to have a picture that shows you in docent mode, that would be great as well.

Remember that this commemorative book will only be as good as the number of submissions that we receive. So please start thinking of what you want to say and get your photos ready. February 1st  is the due date for both your written paragraphs and photos. Email what you have to su*********@co*****.net . We are so looking forward to hearing from you!

Thank you,
